Within the College Natural Philosophy and the Practical Arts, the Department of Artificing is a recent addition to the available subjects of study. Masters of Artifice have proven their ability to design, build, and maintain mechanisms, machines, engines, and other mechanical systems.
Lectures and demonstrations are provided at Professor Sachenmacher's workshop, which somewhat resembles a fantasyland version of a real-world auto-repair shop. There are ropes, pullies, and winches for lifting objects that are being worked on, a few worktables, and vast collections of tools and spare parts hung around the walls and on hooks around the tables.
In front of each worktable are a few raised benches where learners can observe.
