A sprawling compound near the center of town, made up mostly of some of the original buildings that once housed some of the other departments, left to the department of Healing and Physical Culture when those other departments moved to newer, larger spaces.
This department concerns itself with the treatment and curing of ailments and injuries, and the general improvement of the living body, and the general functioning of living beings (zoology, ecology, etc). The “Animal Husbandry” elements of agriculture are studied here, along with the elements of horticulture that concern the health of individual plants and their nutritional and medicinal properties. (Agriculture as a business process is studied over in the Royal College in the Department of Wealth, and as a cultural practice in the Department of Peace, and as a logistical problem in the Department of War.)
A building that once housed the nascent department of alchemy is now this department's apothecary shop. What was once a set of student apartments has been converted into a hospital. The department of War's original training and parade grounds is now an exercise yard. The associated stables have been converted into a veterinary facility.
